Less than a century ago, in 1916, an American’s fortune grew to the unheard of sum of 1,000 million dollars.  And on September 29th John D. Rockefeller became the world’s first billionaire.

At the time of his passing, if adjusted for the size of the economy, his net worth would translate to about $200 billion today.  The bar he set was so high, it still has not been reached.

Today, there are an astonishing 1,600 billionaires in 69 countries around the world.  Most of these gifted people are self-made men and women.  They all started out on a level playing field and built their net worth to more than a billion dollars.  And even though, in their chosen fields of endeavor they are a raging success, they are virtually unknown.

Not any more.
